BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. -- A two-alarm fire quickly engulfed a home in Boynton Beach Sunday evening, and a plume of dark smoke could be seen from miles away.
The fire started around 5:15 p.m. in the 100 block of NE 18th Avenue. When Boynton Beach Fire Rescue arrived on scene, flames were shooting into the air.
Firefighters made an aggressive attack, and were able to knock down the fire quickly.
The owner of the home told WPTV she was not home at the time, but believes the fire was started by the hot water heater in the kitchen area. Most of the damage was contained to the back of the home.
An exact cause of the fire is unknown.
