Boynton Beach kicked off its week of celebrations to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
People marched down Seacrest Boulevard Saturday morning for the city’s annual parade.
The parade spanned from Boynton Beach Boulevard to MLK Boulevard.
Spectators lined the streets trying to catch a glimpse of the performances and community groups. Organizers say they do it for the kids.
"Many of our kids and the generations coming today have no idea of his contribution so it's a way of keeping the dream alive,” N. Michael Norwood, MLK Celebration Committee Chairman said.
On Friday January 15 and Saturday January 16 the city is hosting free concerts at the amphitheater on Ocean Avenue.
On Monday, MLK Day, they will give back to the community by painting two houses.
