EARLIER:

Boynton Beach police are searching for answers about a little boy who was found wandering the streets all alone on Monday.

BBPD said it received a call around 12:30 p.m. after the child was seen in the area of Congress Avenue near Gateway Boulevard, one of the busiest intersections in Boynton Beach.

Police said they don't know how long the boy had been wandering before officers reached him.

A police department spokesperson said they don't know the child's name or age because he's non-verbal and isn't communicating with them. Police guess he's 2 or 3 years old.

If you know who the child or his parents are, call the Boynton Beach Police Department at 561-732-8116.

Officers are now going door-to-door in the area where the boy was found, trying to identify him and find his parents or caregiver.

The police department also said its dispatch center is being flooded with calls about who the child is. Officers are now going to those locations to follow up on the information provided.
