The South Florida Fair is right around the corner and on Saturday many scored free tickets.

Anyone dropping off two non-perishable food items at the Palm Beach Outlets walked away with tickets to the fair.

The fair has teamed up with the Palm Beach County Food Bank to assist hungry families for several years. By noon Saturday they had given away 600 tickets.

“It's very heartwarming to see how the community is reacting,” Jack Frost with the South Florida Fair said.

Parents say the event is a positive way to help the community while getting their children excited about the fair.

"We've been watching it get set up and yea we love to eat the food and the kids like the rides,” Britney McCarry of Royal Palm Beach said.

The fair starts Thursday January 14 at the South Florida Fairgrounds on Southern Boulevard. It runs until January 31.
