A student at Boynton Beach High School is accused of bringing an “electric weapon” to school.

Palm Beach County School District police say Sandie Emilcar, 18, had a "Red Scorpion" stun gun in her bag.

Police say they checked the device and it emitted an unknown number of volts.

The company that makes the Red Scorpion says it’s designed as a self-defense product.

Police say when they asked Emilcar why she brought it to school she refused to answer.

Police charged her with possession of a weapon on school property.
