What started as a sixth grade language arts assignment is now a published book.
Author Haley Marguerite Mariano spoke at Logger's Run Middle School, where she used to attend class.
The appearance is to help launch her new book Charlie Takes an Adventure.
Her message to students is never give up.
"If you have a dream, no matter how big or small it is, doesn't matter, always keep chasing your dreams and you'll be able to make it happen. Dream big!" said Mariano.
Mariano came up with the book idea 13 years ago when she was a student at Logger's Run in suburban Boca Raton.
The children's book is about a penguin that travels from Antarctica to Florida.
