Big sports boost economy in PBC

February is turning into a sports-lover's dream in Palm Beach County.

With big name golf, tennis, and equestrian events, the spotlight is shining on the area.

The Palm Beach Sports Commission says that means big bucks.

It says last year, sports fans pumped $265 million into the local service industries.

"Palm Beach County is wonderful for tourism and we're saying sports tourism is a way to enhance the economic impact and economic development of our county," explains Margie Walden, a board member on the sports commission.

She says the commission wants to keep this positive impact all year; allowing seasonal employees to work the entire year.

It will bring amateur and collegiate baseball, soccer, and lacrosse tournaments to the county this summer.
