DELRAY BEACH, Fla.-- The Cup of Good coffee shop in Delray Beach opened about a month ago. The shop looks like any other coffee shop; they have the sounds, the smells, and the drinks. But what makes Cup of Good different is who serves customers.

“We hire people in various walks of life and various situations,” said owner Fred Rodrigues.

Rodrigues quit corporate life and opened the coffee shop. He said he wanted to provide people with disabilities or someone in an at-risk situation a place to work.

Barista Vivian Lopez is a recovering drug addict. She said she knows Rodrigues has her best interest at heart.

“The hardest part about being in recovery and finding a job is being surrounded by people who are like-minded,” said Lopez.

The Cup of Goodis also partnered with JARC and will hire employees who are on the autism spectrum.

“The goal here is to not only open a coffee shop but really, intentionally to do good,” said Rodrigues.

He said as their business grows he hopes to offer more opportunities in the community as well.
