DELRAY BEACH, Fla. — The top fire official in Delray Beach has resigned.
Delray Beach Fire Rescue spokesperson Dani Moschella confirmed Tuesday afternoon that Fire Chief Neal de Jesus resigned from his position.
Moschella said de Jesus was not asked to resign "but made the decision of his own volition."
According to the city's website, in March 2016 de Jesus became the fire chief for the city of Delray Beach Fire Rescue. He was appointed interim city manager in December 2016 and returned to the position of fire chief in November 2017.
Assistant Fire Chief Keith Tomey will serve as interim fire chief, according to Moschella.
