Delray Beach gave crime a going away party Tuesday.

The police department took part in National Night Out. The annual event connects police officers all over the country with their communities.

Delray Beach’s chief and community members all said now more than ever it’s important to break down any barriers.

“I think it’s very important for the kids to not be afraid and see what the police officers have to offer, especially with everything that’s going on,” said mother of three, Kimberly Simpson.

“The biggest thing I love is interacting without that barrier like they called us because there is an issue. We’re just hanging out, we’re talking,” explained Chief Jeff Goldman.

The Delray Beach police department unveiled its new “Mobile P.A.R.T.Y.” trailer tonight. Party stands for partnering with and recruiting today’s youth.

The trailer has TVs, and games. Officers will bring it to events and neighborhoods as another tool to connect with children.
