A former volunteer for the Delray Beach Police Department is under arrest for lewd and lascivious molestation.
Acting on a tip, police questioned 48-year-old Reynold Chery of Boynton Beach if he was having sex with a 15-year-old girl.
Detectives say Chery knew the teen and admitted that he had sexual contact with her on one occasion.
Chery, who was a volunteer with the department from March 2007 to February 2009, faces a charge of lewd and lascivious molestation on a victim under 16.
According to police, Chery was a member of the agency’s Citizens On Patrol program and served in the Haitian Roving Patrol.
The department describes it as a volunteer unit that patrols communities, shopping centers and other parking lots.
