DELRAY BEACH, Fla. — Delray Beach police are offering the public a chance to learn the department's procedures, tactics and decision making.
The hands-on course takes place Saturday August 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Chief Javaro Sims said the training officers will make the training exercises as real as possible. “It helps build the relationships and build that trust and comfort level,” said Sims.
The course will focus on making split-second decisions, defensive training, and even simulate traffic stops.
Training sergeant Paul Weber says officers will also go over body camera video. "We hope to have them use a body camera in a scenario and play it back to see if it saw what they saw."
There are a limited number of spots available.
