The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says an arrest has been made in the murder of Christo Maccius.
He was shot outside O’Connor’s Pub in Sandalfoot Plaza in suburban Boca Raton Saturday morning.
Investigators identified the suspect as 28-year-old Garry Pierre.
The sheriff's office says several tips helped identify the suspect. He was arrested last night with the assistance of the Broward Sheriff's Office.
Maccius graduated from West Boca Raton High School and worked there as a substitute teacher. His fun-loving attitude earned him friends throughout the community.
His friends created a memorial for Maccius outside the school.
West Boca High School Principal Craig Sommer released the following statement:
“The number of people who have expressed their grief and come together in the wake of this tragedy is a testament to the life the Mr. Maccius lived. The West Boca High School family was touched by his kindness and leadership, and his ability to overcome the odds in his life to shine in our community will forever be his legacy for our students and their families.”
Funeral services for Maccius will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Spanish River Church at 2400 Yamato Rd. in Boca Raton.
The burial ceremony will take place Sunday at 1 p.m. at Palm Beach Memorial at 3691 Seacrest Blvd. in Lantana.
