The St. Lucie County Fire District said two crashes Monday morning have killed one person and injured several others.
At 6:32 a.m., crews responded to wreck involving a van and another vehicle at the intersection of Minute Maid Road and Orange Avenue. One person was killed and 12 others were taken to the hospital.
Orange Avenue near Adams Ranch was shut down while the Florida Highway Patrol investigated.
Second wreck injures 4 people
At 6:44 a.m., crews also responded to a two-vehicle, head-on crash at Midway Road and Eleven Mile Road.
Four patients were hurt in this wreck, including three that were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
