The St. Lucie County clerk's office said Thursday that more than $220,000 is waiting to be claimed by residents and companies that have done business with the county in recent years.

“The Unclaimed Funds list includes anybody who never cashed their checks,” said St. Lucie County Clerk Joe Smith. “If you’ve done any business with St. Lucie County from 2011 to 2014, I encourage you to visit our website to see if your name or company is owed money.”

The report also includes those who may have participated in a tax deed auction or recorded documents, such as mortgages or deeds.

The 88 individuals and businesses who need to claim their funds can visit www.stlucieclerk.com/unclaimed to search for names or download the full list. Instructions on how to claim the funds are available on the website.

The deadline to collect the funds is 5 p.m. March 15, 2016.

The list contains 123 claims for 88 individuals and businesses. The amounts range from as little as $11 to the largest at $21,995.

This fall, the Clerk’s office will issue a second list of unclaimed funds for activities related to the court system.
