PARKLAND, Fla. — Fathers of three of the victims from the Parkland shooting last year will be at Tuesday night’s State of the Union, invited by two Democrats and a Republican.

“Nothing is enough. When you ask a father who lost his son, nothing is enough,” said Manny Oliver. His son, Joaquin was among the 17 killed February 14th, 2018.

Manny will be Boca Raton Congressman Ted Duetch’s guest.

“I am going to listen, okay?” he said, hoping the President talks about gun safety. “We think the main reason Joaquin was murdered because we have a system that allows that that happen. And we believe that is a tradition that we’re okay with. Joaquin is not okay with that.”

Fred Guttenberg lost his daughter, Jamie. He is Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s guest.

He told me he can’t escape the reason why he’s there. He says he is hoping gun safety is front and center for the first time in a long time, adding he really should be sitting at home next to his daughter watching.

Andrew Pollack lost his daughter, Meadow. He is Florida Senator Rick Scott’s guest.

They worked closely when Scott was Florida’s governor to pass gun restrictions and school safety laws

He said in a statement he hopes to work with Senator Scott in “securing every school in America so no family has to experience the same tragedy as mine.”

The State of the Union address starts at 9 p.m. You can watch it live on WPTV.
