An elderly woman was critically injured Wednesday morning in a St. Lucie County house fire.
The local fire district said crews responded to a fire in the 5300 block of Oleander Blvd. at about 7 a.m.
The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. She was then flown to a burn unit by St. Lucie County Air Rescue, according to the St Lucie County Fire District. A spokesperson said she has second and third-degree burns.
The fire began in the bedroom and caused at least $25,000 damage, the spokesperson said. The fire district said the fire has been ruled accidental.
