The Florida Highway Patrol said at a news conference Monday morning that a fiery crash that claimed the lives of five young people in St. Lucie County is still an open and active investigation.

Investigators say a 2004 GMC Yukon, driven by 21-year-old Tanner Ray Dashner of Fort Pierce, crashed into the rear of a Dodge Dakota on Nov. 23 near Midway Road and S. 25th Street.

The Dakota burst into flames, killing five people inside.

FHP said on Monday that once its investigation is complete, it will send that information to the State Attorney's Office, which will decide if charges should be filed.

FHP identifies the victims as:

  • 27-year-old Kedan D. Tillett of Fort Pierce
  • 21-year-old Anthony Victor of Fort Pierce
  • 16-year-old Anthony M. Martin of Fort Pierce
  • 21-year-old Darien L. Douglas of Port St. Lucie
  • 17-year-old Alexis Chaney of Fort Pierce

Another passenger in the Dodge Dakota, 14-year-old Ari'yonnia Stanberry, was rescued from the burning car and taken to the hospital. She was released one day later.

Troopers said on Monday that they're looking for the person who rescued Stanberry.

FHP says Dashner, the driver who caused the deadly wreck, was critically injured, and a passenger in a third vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Investigators said if anyone has any information about the wreck, call the Florida Highway Patrol and *FHP.
