Fort Pierce police are investigating the death of a 3-month-old boy.
Investigators said they received a call at 12:30 a.m. Friday from a residence in the 500 block of North 12th St.
Police spokesman Ed Cunningham said when officers arrived, the baby was unresponsive.
“Officers tried CPR and then the baby was rushed over to Longwood Regional where it was later pronounced dead," Cunningham said.
The boy was pronounced dead at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center.
No arrest has been made, and police are still investigating.
“We’ve begun an investigation to try to find out what happened the cause and manner of death," Cunningham said. "Right now we don’t know. But we’re looking at it from different angles.”
Investigators said they're not ruling anything out and that they're looking at the possibility of the death being caused by natural causes through foul play, or if it was an accident.
“There is a lot of heartache involved," Cunningham said. "The family is going through a lot of grief and we’re aware of that.”
