CeeCee Ross Lyles, who grew up in Fort Pierce, was among the victims of the 9/11 attacks.
She was a member of the Fort Pierce Police Department before becoming a flight attendant.
On September 11th she was on United Airlines Flight 93 that crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Friday her family recognized her for courage and says they'll never stop loving her.
"Love is stronger than the grave, love goes beyond death because a person is not with us doesn't mean that love is gone," said her aunt Rene Clark.
A statue in her honor overlooks the Indian River.
