FORT PIERCE, Fla.-- A Fort Pierce man has been arrested for a weekend crash where he just missed hitting the city police department.
Police say late Friday night,43-year-old Jose Torres Rodriguez drove his pickup truck over a small tree, knocking down a light pole, a marble police memorial, and the flagpole in the process.
The truck eventually came to rest at the base of a second tree.
When officers came out to investigate, they say Rodriguez used both hands to grab a handgun from one of the officers but did not remove it from the gun belt.
Rodriguez faces several charges including resisting an officer with violence.
