Shooting suspect arrested in Fort Pierce

FORT PIERCE, Fla. -- A man suspected of a shooting a man in Fort Pierce on Thursday, was arrested on Friday.

Fort Pierce police say an officer was following up on a stolen vehicle tip and observed a 2002 white Mitsubishi Montero maching the description of the stolen vehicle traveling westbound on Avenue Q.

Police say after the driver saw the officer, he stopped and the passenger fled from the car on foot.

Not long after that, the driver also fled the vehicle on foot and was captured a short distance away in a wooded area.

The officer located the passenger, identified as 21-year-old Julius Belle, and took him into custody.

Belle was wanted in connection with a shooting Thursday that occurred on the 2200 block of Avenue E.

Belle has been charged with Attempted First Degree Murder in the shooting that injured the victim, Deshone Stacy.
