The local diner is open 24 hours a day, and server Glenda Fassold says some people stayed until the end.

"It was definitely interesting. I think for the most part, the people here were surprised by the outcome, a lot of people thought it might be close.  But then when it looked like Trump would win, the response in here, definitely, everyone was surprised. I was surprised," Fassold said.

Some people came in for a bite to eat after staying up all night, while others were just catching up on the news.

A group of first-time voters in town for a fishing tournament said they were excited to wake up and find out their chosen candidate won the election.

Tyree Campos of Fort Pierce said he hopes America made the right choice.

"I stayed up all night, all night. I watched it from my house. It was very historic," said Campos.

St. Lucie County had about a 74 percent voter turnout, with the county going for Donald Trump.
