Fort Pierce police have charged a suspect in the bank robbery of a SunTrust branch.

A police spokesman said the robbery happened just before 10 a.m. at the bank in the 700 block of Virginia Avenue.

Paul Joseph Hartley, 35, of the 100 block of S.E. Solaz Avenue in Port St. Lucie was picked up about four hours later.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office credited its partnership with the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force for the quick arrest.

“Through our relationship with federal partners like the FBI, the fact that we were able to quickly bring this criminal to justice sends the message to our community that the resources and connections are in place to find the bad guys and put them behind bars,” St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara said in a statment.

Hartley is being charged with bank robbery.
