Police in Fort Pierce are investigating an early-morning shooting that left one person in critical condition.
At about 3 a.m. Friday, an officer was flagged down in the 1700 block of Avenue D because of a shooting.
Police said Deforrest Swoope, 31, of Fort Pierce was shot and taken by a friend to a local hospital where he is being treated.
Swoope was working at an after-hours club, located at 1721 Avenue D, when the shooting occurred.
The incident is still under investigation.
