Firefighters battled a wildfire in the George LeStrange Preserve in Fort Pierce Monday.
Tall grass, dead trees and bushes fueled the flames, the Florida Forest Service said.

When some of the larger dead trees caught fire, wind blew embers toward a recycling plant off Glades Cut Off Road and sparked a fire, forestry officials said.
The Florida Forest Service along with St. Lucie Fire District, sheriff's office and Fort Pierce police responded.
Just before 5 p.m. Monday the preserve fire was contained at 10 acres but drivers were warned there could be smoke on Glades Cut Off Road, authorities said.
Fire officials were still battling the fire near the recycling plant as of 5:40 p.m.
