ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. — The St. Lucie County community came together Wednesday night to help a breast cancer survivor in need.

Former St. Lucie County firefighter Kim Nobles, who had been working three jobs to support her family, needed a double mastectomy in June.

Due to her operation, Nobles is now unable to work until late August.

So, the Van Duzer Foundation stepped in and held a fundraiser for her at Big Apple Pizza in Fort Pierce.

"I have my whole family here. My best friends are here. My whole city pretty much is supporting me," said Nobles. "You just never know when you're going to need something. I'm honored and grateful that they're doing this for me."

One-hundred percent of the sales, as well as tips and staff salaries from Big Apple Pizza will be donated to help Nobles as she recovers.

This Saturday marks four weeks since her surgery.
