ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. -- At last count, there were around 1,800 homeless students in the St. Lucie County School District.
For those students, back-to-school often means needing help to just get the basics.
That's where the "Homeless Closet" comes in.
Here, students from pre-K through high school can get shoes, shirts, and hygiene kits in addition to school supplies.
As families register for the new school year, there is a concerted effort in the District to make sure students without a permanent address get what they need.
If you have new or gently used clothing, the "Homeless Closet" is always looking for donations.
The weekend of August 17 through the 19, there will be a "stuff in the truck" event at the Hilton Garden Inn in St. Lucie West.
