The pedestrian who was struck and killed Thursday on the Florida Turnpike has been identified.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Holly Marie Lucas, 38, of Port St. Lucie, was near mile marker 142 when a northbound van struck her.
FHP suspects she was possibly attempting to cross from east to west.
The van braked and swerved but was unable to avoid hitting Lucas, FHP said.
Investigators said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The incident happened just before 4 p.m. in St. Lucie County.
