PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. --  In September, a home in a quiet neighborhood near the Florida Turnpike got the attention of detectives conducting an online investigation involving child pornography.

“We had enough to secure a search warrant for the suspect’s home related to computers and devices,” Port St. Lucie Police Sgt. Frank Sabol said.

They found that the computer belonging to Christophe Cremers, 46, of SW Fiji Lane, didn’t have just one hard drive but several external hard drives.

“Once we brought it back to the station and started doing forensic analysis on it, the detective found over 6,000 videos on just one of the hard drives,” said Sgt. Sabol.

Police say while it doesn’t appear that any of the videos were made locally, it doesn’t diminish the fact that there are very young victims in the clips.  “We’re talking 2, 3, 4 on up.  It’s just heart-wrenching,” Sgt. Sabol said.

One neighbor told me Cremers, a married father of two young children, did not come out much.  Another said she knew the family for a long time, and was devastated for Cremers’ wife and kids.

Cremers currently faces 10 felony counts. Additional charges are expected pending the outcome of a full forensic examination of the computer.

Cremers turned himself into the St. Lucie County Jail on Monday.
