A Port St. Lucie family has been reunited with their dog weeks after he disappeared.
An unidentified person found the animal, a brown male mastiff, in the shrubbery at McCarty Ranch Preserve, according to police.
Port St. Lucie Animal Control was contacted and found the dog in an emaciated state.
The dog was given some water and food which "he gobbled down," police said.
Animal control workers detected the dog was microchipped. Using a detector they learned his name was Tiny and belonged to a family in Port St. Lucie.
They reunited the owners with their pet. They were amazed Tiny had been found because they said he had run away during a storm three weeks ago.
Photos posted on the Port St. Lucie Facebook Page showed the happy reunion.
