A former Treasure Coast police officer has pleaded no contest to two sex crimes involving an underage girl.
Myron Pratt will spend the next 40 months behind bars.
The former Port St. Lucie and Vero Beach police officer was an adjunct professor at Indian River State College, when he became involved with a 16-year-old girl in late 2014.
The girl’s mother became suspicious after finding racy text messages on her phone.
Detectives from the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office found the teen had picked up Pratt from the Port St. Lucie Police Department on 2 separate occasions which led to sexual encounters.
One of them took place behind a church.
Pratt had originally been charged with 10 felonies.
As part of the plea agreement, after his prison time he will be on 5 years’ sex offender probation.
