Motorcyclist killed in hit and run crash in Port St. Lucie

A motorcyclist was killed in a hit and run crash in Port St. Lucie Friday evening, according to the Port St. Lucie Police Department. 

The incident happened at 8:09 p.m. at  the intersection of SE Walton Road and SE Village Green Drive. 

Police say a Chevrolet van was trying to turn south on SE Village Green Drive when it collided with the motorcycle heading west on Walton Road, killing 25-year-old motorcyclist Andrew Taylor of Pompano Beach.

The van left the scene after the crash, officials say.

Police searched the area and located the van in a nearby residential neighborhood at around 9 p.m. The driver, 47-year-old Thomas Lee Munson, was arrested for DUI involving death without rendering aid and leaving the scene of a traffic crash with a death without rendering aid.

The investigation is ongoing.
