No resentencing date yet for Tyler Hadley, Treasure Coast son convicted of killing his mom and dad

There is still no resentencing date for the Treasure Coast son accused of killing his parents in 2011, despite yet another court hearing that was held Friday.

Tyler Hadley was convicted and sentenced to two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole for murdering his mother and father.  A  Supreme Court decision in 2012 determined that "mandatory life without parole for those under the age of 18 at the time of their crimes violated the Eight Amendment's prohibition on cruel and unusual punishments."

Attorneys for both sides said during Friday's hearing they still need more time to prepare for the resentencing.

They also learned that the current judge who had been assigned to the case will likely be reassigned before the resentencing hearing.

"Our concern is that we don't want to waste the courts time have him review transcripts hear motions and in the middle of it have to switch judges and start all over again. Both the state and the defense agree that would be wasteful," said Public Defender Diamond Litty.

The state said it plans to do some research and find out which judge might take the seat to see if there is a way to speed up the process.

The next court date was set for October.
