A man brought an explosive to the Port St. Lucie Police Department Monday.

He transported it in the bed of his truck and called it a torpedo.

The man said it belonged to his son who recently moved and left it behind.

Police called the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office bomb squad as a precaution.

The explosive ordnance disposal unit said it is a World War II aerial drop bomb.

They took it into custody after determining it  was safe and non-explosive.
