PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Two missing children are now safe after police in Port St. Lucie used a drone to locate them Sunday.
Sgt. Keith Boham said officers responded to the 2200 block of SW Alminar St. after received a report about the missing children.
Police learned two families were having a play date when the children slipped out the front door.
The children apparently went looking for their older siblings, who had just left for a ride on a recreational vehicle, according to Boham.
Officers searched the area but could not locate the small children.
Boham said a police drone pilot and visual observer later responded to the scene and quickly located the two children walking along a lake near their home.
The drone pilot hovered about the children, keeping watch over them until the family picked them up.
