A man suspected of numerous robberies in 4 Florida counties is under arrest.
The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office says 46-year-old Timothy Scott Turner was arrested Thursday evening and is the primary suspect in armed robberies in St. Lucie, Martin, Palm Beach and Broward counties.
"Through investigative means, our deputies were able to locate Mr. Turner and conduct a traffic stop on him that led to the identification of clothing that matched that of the suspect in recent robberies," Sheriff Ken J. Mascara said in a news release. "A handgun matching the description of the one used in the robberies was also recovered."
Investigators in Palm Beach County and on the Treasure Coast believe Turner is responsible for 8 armed robberies since October. The most recent was at a Port St. Lucie Winn Dixie on Port St. Lucie Boulevard Thursday morning.
Martin County Sheriff William Snyder believes Turner is responsible for two armed robberies in Martin County, most recently Wednesday night at the Publix on Martin Highway in Palm City.
"The members of the Martin County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations and Special Investigations Divisions, along with the FBI, worked around the clock to bring this case to a successful conclusion, Sheriff Snyder said in a news release. "The joint effort between the Martin County Sheriff's Office, St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office, and Port St. Lucie Police Department, highlights our collaborative commitment to public safety."
Turner has been booked without bond into the St. Lucie County Jail and faces two counts of armed robbery. Investigators say other charges are pending.
