ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. — Early Christmas morning, while many of you were opening gifts, firefighters in St. Lucie County were out delivering gifts.

Engine 35 was Santa’s Sleigh as gifts were delivered to families at several mobile home parks throughout the county.

For more than a decade St. Lucie County Firefighters Christmas 4 Kids has collected toys and clothes to hand out to those less fortunate.

"My second year volunteering," said volunteer Kelly Ernst. "For the kids who might not get very much on Christmas morning."

This year firefighters handed out about 1,500 toys.

"It’s very sweet. Very well appreciated," said Linda Fountain at Bentonwood Mobile Home Park.

"Bring Christmas to them. It’s exciting. It warms your heart," said David French, President of St. Lucie County Firefighters Christmas 4 Kids.

There was plenty of excitement, smiles, and laughter. On this day nothing can take that away, thanks to those firefighters in St. Lucie County.
