The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office arrested a 16-year-old boy Thursday in connection with the carjacking of a UPS truck driver in late December.

It happened Dec. 29 at the corner of Avenue R and 29th Street in Fort Pierce.

"Based on evidence collected at the scene, including fingerprints left on one of the boxes, detectives were able to identify a suspect and take action to bring him into custody," St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara said in a statement.

The teen was taken to the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice Juvenile Assessment Center.

Oscar Nunez, 33, was driving the truck and was not injured.

"We know there is at least one other suspect involved in this incident and ask the public to continue to provide information that will lead to additional arrests," Mascara said.

The teen arrested Thursday faces charges of armed robbery, armed carjacking and grand theft.

Anyone with information should call the Criminal Investigation Division at (772) 462-3230.
