BELLE GLADE, Fla. — Two boys who were passengers in a car, 16 and 17, were killed and two drivers were injured in a crash in Belle Glade on Monday afternoon, the Palm Beach County Sheriff' s Office said Tuesday.
All four occupants are from Pahokee.
About 4:05 p.m., Palm Beach County Fire Rescue units were dispatched to SR 715 between Hooker Highway and Hatcher Road for a reported rollover crash, PBFR said Monday.
They found a pickup truck and car with heavy damage.
A 2021 Dodge Challenger driven by a 17-year-old boy was traveling northbound in the northbound lane of State Road 715 in the 3500 block at a high rate of speed passing vehicles on the left, according to PBSO.
A 2005 Ford F150 driven by Bertrand Dadaille, 78, was traveling southbound in the southbound lane of State Road 715.
The Dodge's driver lost control and began to yaw counterclockwise into the southbound lanes and into the path of the Ford. This caused a violent collision between the front of the Ford and the passenger side of the Dodge, PBSO said in a crash report.
The two occupants were pronounced dead on the scene by PBFR. PBSO listed the 17-year-old as Jeremiah Dukes and the other name was not identified because of Marsy's Law.
The unidentified driver of the Dodge was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach by TraumaHawk.
The driver of the pickup was transported to Lakeside Medical Center.
