Two Florida Power & Light employees are dead after their vehicle crashed into a canal in South Bay Saturday morning, officials say. The victims were identified as 45-year-old Christopher Paul Garcia and 36-year-old Nicholas James Pflaum.
The incident happened around 9:50 a.m. in the 100 block of Corkscrew Boulevard.
According to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, the vehicle landed upside down in the water.
Divers pulled both occupants from the vehicle, but they were confirmed dead, officials say.
FPL released a statement Saturday morning:
We are aware of a serious and very unfortunate vehicle-related incident in the South Bay area involving FPL employees and their vehicle. Our thoughts and prayers are with our colleagues and their families during this difficult time.
