TUCSON, Ariz. — The Cochise County Sheriff's Office in Tucson, Arizona is warning people about a new scam that has targeted several Verizon customers.

The customers got calls from someone claiming to be from Verizon saying their accounts were compromised and the customer needed to provide some basic information and the last four digits of their social security number.

Verizon representatives say they will not contact you with a phone call about fraud to your account but will instead send emails or text messages.

The official phone number for Verizon is 800-922-0204.

If you have any questions about your Verizon account you can call the correct number.

CCSO says you should never provide personal information to anyone calling you.
