The three men who captured the massive gator, Hall Camp Jr., Chris Bishop and Shane Milstead, said the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's scale broke at 680 pounds.

The scale broke with part of the alligator still on the ground.

They say the gator was captured legally with a state of Florida-issued gator hunting tag.
