DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.-- A motel in Daytona Beach went up in flames Friday morning.

The fire broke out just before 5 a.m. At the Bayview Motel located downtown.

Authorities say 36 people had to evacuate.

"About 4:30 it was, and we heard the alarm going off and all of a sudden somebody ran up and started banging on the door and saying there is smoke in the building everybody get out. So we rushed out," said guest Daniel Rieger.

"Then we heard there was fire in one of the rooms on the second floor and they supposedly put that out then the third floor caught fire," he added.

"I was shaking when I walked out of the room this morning. I was really scared. I've never seen smoke in my life or fire in my life. Very scary," said guest Mary Ellen Rieger.

Fire officials say the flames started in the boiler room and was initially contained, but later spread to other parts of the building.

The flames caused part of the roof to cave in.

Crews from Port Orange and Volusia County were called to assist Daytona Beach firefighters.

No injuries have been reported.

The American Red Cross is assisting motel guests.
