POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — (WPLG/CNN) - Law enforcement in Broward County are looking for the person who was caught on camera setting nine cars on fire early Monday morning at a South Florida car dealership.
Surveillance video shows the culprit wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt break in using box cutters to get through the gates of O&D dealership, located on Northeast 7th Ave. in Pompano Beach, around 1 a.m. The person then pours gasoline on multiple vehicles.
Minutes later the intruder lit up the yard, engulfing the vehicles in flames. Video shows the person then leave the scene.
"Whoever did this, I'm telling you, you've really, really hit hard, and like again, karma," said the sister of the owner of the business.
She said she doesn't know who would do this or why.
The family who owns the business now fears the costs will come out of their pocket for the damages.
"A few of the cars were brand new, and a few were just completed and ready to go, so I'm almost sure it’s going to hit the pocket hard. It takes a heartless person to do something like this,” said the sister of the owner of the business.
The state fire marshal is investigating the case. No suspects have been identified.
