MIAMI-- There were some tense moments for passengers on board American Airlines flight 1498 Tuesday morning.
As the plane approached Miami International Airport from Mexico City at around 11 o'clock, a large bird hit the front end of the plane and became embedded in the nose.
Fortunately, the plane landed safely and no one was injured.
According to the FAA, bird strikes are fairly common.
The agency reported more than 160,000 bird strikes in a 25-year period between 1990 and 2015.
