Miami-bound plane hits rough air, some hurt

Several passengers and a flight attendant had to be treated for injuries they sustained after their airplane encountered severe turbulence while flying into Miami International Airport.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue says that American Airlines Flight 1410 was arriving at MIA from New York's LaGuardia Airport Friday morning with 159 people on board when it hit severe turbulence.

The flight landed and was taken to Terminal D.

Several passengers, as well as the flight attendant, were treated for minor injuries, MFR said.

American Airlines released this statement:

American Airlines Flight 1410 from New York's LaGuardia Airport to Miami briefly encountered severe turbulence approximately 40 minutes prior to landing. The seatbelt sign was on at the time. The flight landed without incident and safely taxied to the gate. Five passengers were evaluated by paramedics on arrival and were released. One flight attendant was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
