ISLAMORADA, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities say a Florida Keys man stabbed his neighbor and then hit him with a shovel.
The victim told Monroe County deputies that his neighbor, 38-year-old Juan Ocampo Medina, invited him and two other people over for some drinks. As they walked into the backyard early Thursday morning, authorities said Medina attacked the victim with a knife, slicing him from his neck to his abdomen.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Becky Herrin says one of the other guests took the knife away from Medina, who then grabbed a shovel and hit the victim on the back of the head.
None of the men gave a reason for the attack.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Medina was arrested and charged with attempted murder. Jail records didn't list an attorney.
