A 33-year-old Pompano Beach woman found herself under arrest for several charges after authorities say she was hiding marijuana inside the lunchbox of a child in her car.

Broward Sheriff’s deputies pulled over a car driven by Tasha Sims shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday night on Dixie Highway near Northwest 9th Street after running a check and finding she did not have a valid driver’s license.

Once stopped, the deputy saw a young girl sitting in the front seat without a seatbelt on. Smelling the odor of marijuana coming from the car, Sims was asked if she had anything on her or in the car.

Sims admitted to hiding marijuana in a lunchbox being held by the young girl when she was being pulled over, officials said.

The deputy confiscated the drug and placed Sims under arrest, charging her with multiple counts including possession of marijuana and child endangerment.

Sims was booked into jail and was being held on $1,000 bond Thursday, records showed. It was unknown if she's hired an attorney.

The child was unhurt and turned over to her mother, while DCF was notified.
