MIAMI — Carnival Cruise Line is joining many other organizations by donating to help the Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian hit the country this week.

In a tweet Wednesday, Carnival said they have pledged $2 million for Bahamas relief and are asking for donations that they will help ship to the islands.

The cruise line said they will help with the transportation of donated goods from South Florida to the islands.

In a written statement, Carnival said they have partnered with Tropical Shipping and The Bahamas National Emergency Management Agency to collect and deliver food and supplies donated in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties for Bahamian residents.

“We have received an outpouring of calls and emails from concerned individuals, local leaders, non-profit groups and the South Florida business community asking how they can provide support to The Bahamas,” said Arnold Donald, CEO of Carnival Corporation. “By working together, we can collectively provide much-needed food and supplies to people in the immediate aftermath of the hurricane.”
